Overview
Good storage is the quiet luxury of a well built home. When every item has a place, rooms stay calm and mornings run more smoothly. When it does not, clutter collects on every surface.
SeaGlass custom builds closets and storage as well as kitchen and bath cabinetry. That includes walk in closets, reach in closets, pantries, laundry rooms, mudroom and drop zone storage, entertainment centers and built ins for living rooms, offices and dens.
Because our own carpenters do the work, storage can be planned with the same care as a kitchen. It can also share materials and finishes with the rest of the house, so it looks as though it belongs. Our custom cabinetry page describes how we design and build cabinetry in more detail.
Design possibilities
The best storage starts with an inventory. How many long garments do you hang? How many pairs of shoes? Where do suitcases go between trips, and what about the beach chairs? Answers like these shape the design more than any catalog.
A walk in closet can include double and long hanging, shoe shelving, drawers with dividers, a place for a hamper and, where space allows, an island or a bench. Good lighting matters as much here as in a kitchen.
A reach in closet benefits from careful use of every inch, with adjustable shelves above and drawers or baskets below. In a pantry, shallow shelves keep food visible, while pull out shelves and tall dividers handle trays and small appliances. If you are planning a new kitchen, the pantry is often designed alongside it on our kitchen remodeling page.
Laundry rooms and mudrooms work hard in Southwest Florida homes, where beach gear, golf bags and pool towels all need somewhere to land. Cabinetry, counters for folding and hooks or cubbies near the door make a real difference.
Entertainment centers and built ins can frame a television, hold books and display collections, and hide cables and equipment. They are planned around the room’s proportions and its windows.
We use 3D rendering in design, so you can see the layout before it is built.
Materials and craftsmanship
Storage takes daily wear. Shelves must carry weight without bowing, drawers must run smoothly when full and doors must stay aligned. These are the details our carpenters attend to.
Humidity is a real consideration in our climate, particularly in closets and in homes left closed for part of the year. We talk through construction, finishes and ventilation with you, and through hardware choices such as Atlas Homewares and Jeffrey Alexander, lines we carry subject to reconfirmation.
Finishes can match your kitchen or bath cabinetry or take on their own character. In our Bonita Springs showroom you can compare finishes and textures in person.
Storage also changes with life. A guest room closet may later serve a home office, and a pantry may need to hold more as a family grows. Adjustable shelving and thoughtful proportions help storage adapt over the years without needing to be rebuilt.
How SeaGlass approaches storage
We start with a free consultation. We measure the space, look at what you need to store and talk about how you use the room each day.
Design and selections take place in our showroom with our designers, who work within your budget. You review the plan and a 3D rendering before anything is built.
Terry Booth manages the project, and our in house carpenters build and install the storage. If lighting or outlets are part of the plan, our own electricians handle that work, with permits where the work requires them. In a condominium or HOA community, we follow the association’s rules for contractors, which vary.
The finish is careful: shelves level, drawers adjusted, doors aligned and a walkthrough together. When you are ready, request a consultation.
