Whole Home Renovations

Coordinated renovations across several rooms, additions and new construction, led by Certified General Contractor Terry Booth with our own in house trades.

Common homeowner needs

  • Several rooms updated as a single coherent design
  • A single contractor accountable for every trade
  • More space through an addition or a reworked plan
  • Clear coordination while you are away for the season
  • Approvals and permits handled properly
  • Finishes that suit the Southwest Florida climate

Overview

Some homes need more than 1 room updated. The kitchen, the baths and the floors may all date from the same era. A growing family may need another bedroom. Or a new owner may want the whole house to reflect how they live.

Work on this scale calls for a builder, not just a designer. SeaGlass is led by Terry Booth, a Certified General Contractor who personally leads every project. Before founding SeaGlass in 2016, Terry and Ellen Williamson spent many years in home remodeling through their other company, Bristol Bay Development.

Our services include coordinated multi room renovations, additions and new construction. Because we employ our own carpenters, plumbers, electricians, tile setters, and stucco and drywall installers, much of the work stays in house. That brings consistency, oversight and quality control across a large project.

Design possibilities

A whole home renovation is a chance to look at the plan as a whole. Opening a kitchen to the living area, enlarging a primary suite or reworking a hallway can change how a house feels far more than new finishes alone.

We think about flow from room to room. Flooring, trim, cabinetry and color should feel related even where each room has its own character. A consistent palette also tends to age better than a series of separate decisions made years apart.

Additions follow the same thinking. A new room should feel as though it was always part of the house, in its proportions, its rooflines and its finishes. New construction gives you the widest freedom, with every room planned from the start.

The rooms inside are planned in detail too. Our kitchen remodeling and bathroom remodeling pages describe how we approach those spaces, and our showroom lets you see full kitchen and bath displays in person.

Materials and craftsmanship

Across a whole house, material choices compound. Flooring, tile, cabinetry, countertops and paint need to work together and to suit the Southwest Florida climate, with its humidity, moisture and, closer to the coast, salt air.

Our designers help you make these selections within your budget and keep the whole home in view. We also custom build cabinetry, closets and built ins, described on our custom cabinetry page, so storage can be designed into the plan rather than added later.

On a larger project, craftsmanship is also about sequence. Rough work, inspections, drywall, tile, cabinetry and finish carpentry must follow in the right order. Having our own trades on site makes that coordination more direct.

How SeaGlass approaches a whole home

We begin with a free consultation. We listen to your goals for the house and talk honestly about scope, budget and phasing. Sometimes the right answer is to do everything at once. Sometimes it is to plan the whole home and build it in stages.

Design and selections take place in our Bonita Springs showroom, where our designers guide you through cabinetry, flooring, countertops and accessories for each room.

During construction, Terry Booth manages the project and our in house trades carry out as much of the work as possible. Outside specialists join only when a particular expertise is required. Permits are typically required for work that changes plumbing, electrical or structure, and as the contractor we handle them.

Many homes in the area sit within condominium or HOA communities, each with its own approval process and rules for contractors. These vary by association, so we plan for them early. We also schedule with hurricane season in mind, particularly for exterior work and deliveries.

Ellen Williamson leads client relationships and customer service, so you always know who to call. The finish is careful, with a walkthrough of every room together. To begin, request a consultation or read more about SeaGlass.

Questions homeowners ask

Is it better to renovate several rooms at once or room by room?

It depends on your budget, your schedule and how the rooms relate. Doing related rooms together can reduce repeated disruption and keep the design consistent. Phasing can make sense when you need to live in the home. We talk through both at the consultation.

Do you build additions and new homes?

Yes. SeaGlass lists additions and new construction among its services, led by Terry Booth, a Certified General Contractor. The scope of each project is discussed at the consultation.

Who handles permits?

As the contractor, we do. Permits are typically required for work that changes plumbing, electrical or structure, and requirements vary by jurisdiction and project.

Can the work continue while I am out of state?

Many of our clients spend part of the year away. We discuss access, communication and how decisions will be made before work begins, so the project can move forward while you are gone.

How long does a whole home renovation take?

There is no single answer. Scope, design decisions, material lead times, association approvals and weather all play a part. We give you a realistic schedule once the plan and selections are settled.
